About
Cinematographer | Virtual Production & LED Volume | AC
Kian Crook is a cinematographer who works across narrative, documentary and virtual production sets. He came to filmmaking through a fascination with how images actually get made, the engineering as much as the art, and that instinct still drives how he approaches a project today.
In virtual production, he has worked across the full breadth of an LED volume environment: at the Brain Bar driving the wall, behind the camera as DP, and shaping the light as Gaffer. He builds worlds in Unreal Engine and folds generative AI into his pipelines where it earns its place.
What he loves about filmmaking, is the storytelling particularly documentary work with real people, where a project rarely ends up where it started and the best moments tend to be the ones nobody planned for.
Outside of work, he is a rock climber and hiker, and a former international rugby player for Gibraltar. The through-line between all of it is the same: long days, uncomfortable conditions, and the kind of problem-solving that only happens when you can't talk your way out of it.
